- Chairman and Secretary of Kamloops Heritage Advisory Committee
from 1987-1995. Actively involved in Community Pride, Downtown
Revitalization, heritage preservation (notably, Kamloops Courthouse,
Calvary Temple, McIntosh Memorial and Kamloops Chinese Cemetery), and
heritage awareness (Heritage Poster Contest, Heritage Costume Contest,
Walking Tours).
- Founded and became the Chairman of the Kamloops Chinese Cemetery
Heritage Society from 1989-1993. Active in maintaining some of the
original integrity while beautifying the cemetery and promoting it as a
memorial park to commemorate all the railway workers in Canada.
- Member of the Pacific Rim Initiatives Advisory Council in 1988
and 1989. Active in promoting high school level awareness of the
Pacific Rim countries with the ultimate aim of future increased economic
trade between those countries and BC.
- Councillor for the Kamloops Multicultural Society in 1988 and
1989. Advising the Society on its future goals, activities and its
involvement within the community.
- Director of the Kamloops Courthouse Conservatory Society in
1989. Promoting the ultimate use of the old Courthouse while keeping
within the heritage-designated bounds.
- English Secretary and Vice-President of the Kamloops Chinese
Cultural Association in 1986 and 1987. Helping to cultivate ethnic
interest, awareness and integration within the community.
